Sonos has launched the Sonos Roam SL, a microphone-free version of their extremely portable Bluetooth speaker.

The Roam SL eliminates the microphone and comes in at a lower price point, comparable to what the Sonos One SL provides compared to the Sonos One. It has virtually the same design (without the mic button) and nearly all of the same capabilities as the outstanding Sonos Roam.

Because the Roam SL lacks a microphone, you won’t be able to use Google Assistant or Amazon Alexa, nor will you be able to use Automatic Trueplay tuning or the Sonos Sound Swap feature, which was introduced with Roam. However, the Roam SL will still switch between Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and connect to the rest of your Sonos system.
The Roam SL, like the original Sonos Roam, has an IP67 water and dust-resistant rating, so it can tackle the outdoors with ease, whether it’s in the garden, by the pool, or at the beach. If you already own a Sonos Roam, you can simply pair a Roam SL or another Roam SL to it, and it will provide all of the regular Sonos functions while connected to Wi-Fi, including compatibility with over 100 music streaming services.

The Sonos Roam SL has the same internals as the Sonos Roam, which sounds fantastic for its size, so we’re expecting great things from the Roam SL as well.

The Sonos Roam SL will be available for £159 in the UK starting March 15th. It will be available for presale on starting March 1, 2022
