Capcom’s RPG Dragon’s Dogma, which was released a decade ago to little fanfare, now has a devoted following. For some time now, speculation has been running rampant about an upcoming Dragon’s Dogma sequel, but there have been no major announcements from the huge June Summer Game Fest displays.
However, a glimmer of optimism remains. This week, Hideaki Itsuno announced that a 10th Anniversary celebration will be streamed later this week during the Capcom Showcase.
Hi everyone, I’m Hideaki Itsuno, game director at Capcom. A few weeks ago, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of Dragon’s Dogma! Thanks to all of you for joining us in this celebration! The world of Dragon’s Dogma has spread to various kinds of media, ranging from games […] to digital comics and a Netflix original animated series.
In the coming days, we will be releasing a video celebrating 10 years of Dragon’s Dogma, talking about how and what [the series] came to be. So, whether you’re a longtime fan or just curious about the series, we’ll have something for you to enjoy! We hope you check it out!
Is this a sign that a sequel will be announced in the near future? According to an unconfirmed Capcom release schedule, which has been widely accepted as accurate, Dragon’s Dogma 2 will be released in the near future.
Itsuno, on the other hand, has expressed numerous times that he would like to continue the series. Although there are many encouraging signals, Capcom’s secretive workings must always be remembered. I don’t know if we’ll get a new Netflix series or some kind of crossover announcement.
On June 16, we’ll be treated to a special digital celebration of Dragon’s Dogma’s ten years. Let me know what you think. We’ve been waiting a long time for a sequel announcement from Capcom.
